Terms of Use
Detaggo is an image-metadata toolkit. It lets you view, edit, and strip EXIF/IPTC/XMP metadata, detect and remove AI-generation tags, watermark and verify images, view photo GPS locations, and keep an encrypted Vault with optional Google Drive backup. These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of the app, built and provided by Chayaphon Pansuwan ("we", "us", "developer").
By downloading, installing, or using Detaggo you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
1. Eligibility
Detaggo is not directed to children under the age of 13, and you must be at least 13 years old to use it. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may use the app only with the involvement and consent of a parent or legal guardian.
2. License to use the app
Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, and revocable license to install and use Detaggo on devices you own or control, for your own personal or internal use. You may not copy, modify, reverse-engineer, decompile, rent, lease, sell, sublicense, or redistribute the app except to the extent this restriction is prohibited by applicable law or permitted by the licenses of its open-source components.
3. What Detaggo does
The app provides the following features. Most processing runs entirely on your device:
- Viewing, editing, copying, and stripping EXIF/IPTC/XMP metadata, including batch processing of multiple images.
- Detecting AI-generation tags and removing AI-content metadata.
- Image watermarking — robust, blind, keyed, and asymmetric embedding, plus verification and watermark stats/history.
- Viewing GPS locations already embedded in your photos on a map, with optional place-name lookup and an "Open in Maps" hand-off.
- An encrypted Vault protected by a passphrase, with key material held in the Android Keystore or Apple Keychain.
- Optional, encrypted backup to your own Google Drive.
- An Auto-Clean share action for quickly stripping metadata from shared images.
We have no account system and do not ask you for personal details such as your name, address, or phone number. We may add, change, or remove features at any time.
4. Your responsibilities and acceptable use
You are solely responsible for the images, metadata, and other content you process with Detaggo. You agree that:
- You own, or have the necessary rights and permissions to use, every image and piece of metadata you open, edit, watermark, or save.
- You will use the app only for lawful purposes and will not use it to infringe, misappropriate, or violate the intellectual-property, privacy, or other rights of anyone else.
- You will not use watermarking to falsely assert ownership of content that is not yours, nor unlawfully remove, alter, or obscure another person's watermark, attribution, or rights-management information.
- You will not use the app to create, store, or distribute content that is illegal, harmful, or abusive.
Edits can be irreversible. Metadata edits, stripping, and saving may permanently alter or overwrite your files. You are responsible for keeping your own copies of any originals you want to preserve.
5. Your data and on-device processing
Viewing and editing metadata, AI-content detection, and watermark embedding and verification run on your device. We do not operate a server that stores your images or metadata, and your photos are never uploaded to us. Because your content stays under your control, you are responsible for backing it up.
Your Vault passphrase cannot be recovered. Vault entries and encrypted backups are protected with your passphrase. If you forget or lose it, neither we nor anyone else can decrypt or restore that data. There is no recovery mechanism and no backdoor.
6. Watermarking, AI detection, and metadata removal
These features are provided on a best-effort basis and have inherent limitations. You should not rely on them as a guarantee:
- Watermarking and verification. Embedded watermarks may not survive every kind of editing, compression, resizing, format conversion, or other transformation, and verification may produce false positives or false negatives. We do not guarantee that a watermark is permanent, undetectable, or always recoverable.
- AI-content detection. Detection is based on metadata tags and heuristics. A result is not a definitive determination of whether an image was or was not generated or edited by AI.
- Metadata removal. Stripping removes the metadata the app detects, but we cannot guarantee that every trace of information is removed from a file.
7. In-app purchases and subscriptions
Detaggo offers optional premium features and an ad-free experience through Google Play Billing (Android) and Apple StoreKit (iOS). All payments, renewals, cancellations, and refunds are handled and governed by Google or Apple under their respective terms — we do not operate a payment server and do not receive your payment-card details. Subscriptions, where offered, renew automatically until cancelled through your Google Play or Apple account. The app stores your entitlement status locally on your device to unlock what you purchased.
8. Advertising
The Android app is ad-supported through Google AdMob (banner, interstitial, and rewarded formats). Some optional actions — such as the Auto-Clean share-forward — can be unlocked by watching a rewarded ad. Where required (for example in the EU, UK, and Switzerland), a Google-provided consent prompt is shown before personalized ads are served, and you can review or change your choice anytime via Settings › Manage ad consent. The iOS app does not display ads.
9. Google Drive backup
Drive backup is optional and off by default. When you enable it and sign in with Google, your watermark keys, Vault entries, and settings are encrypted on your device before upload and stored in a private, app-specific folder in your own Google Drive — never on our servers. Your use of Google Drive is subject to Google's own terms. You can sign out or revoke the app's access at any time.
10. Third-party services
Detaggo relies on third-party services that are governed by their own terms and privacy policies, including Google Firebase (analytics, crash reporting, and configuration), Google AdMob, Google Play Billing, Google Drive, platform map and geocoding services (Google on Android, Apple on iOS), and Apple StoreKit. See our Privacy Policy for details on what limited data these services process.
11. Intellectual property
The Detaggo app, its name, logo, and branding are owned by Chayaphon Pansuwan and are protected by intellectual-property laws. Detaggo includes open-source software that remains subject to its own licenses, which you can review in-app under Settings › Open-Source Licenses. These Terms do not transfer any ownership of the app to you, and we do not claim any ownership of the images or content you process — you keep all rights to your own content.
12. Disclaimer of warranties
Detaggo is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or that it will meet your requirements. You use the app at your own risk.
13. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the developer will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, files, profits, or goodwill — including data made unrecoverable by a lost Vault passphrase, or files altered or overwritten while editing — arising out of or related to your use of, or inability to use, the app. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of these may not apply to you.
14. Termination
We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the app, or any part of it, at any time. We may also end your license if you breach these Terms. You may stop using Detaggo at any time by uninstalling it. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination — including intellectual property, disclaimers, and limitation of liability — will continue to apply.
15. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with a revised effective date, and your continued use of the app after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms. Please review this page periodically.
16. Apple App Store (iOS) additional terms
If you obtained Detaggo from the Apple App Store, the following also apply:
- These Terms are between you and the developer only, not with Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content.
- Apple has no obligation to provide any maintenance or support for the app.
- To the extent permitted by law, Apple has no warranty obligation with respect to the app, and any claims relating to product liability, legal or regulatory non-compliance, or consumer-protection requirements are the developer's responsibility, not Apple's.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you as a user.
- You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated as a "terrorist supporting" country, and that you are not listed on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
17. Governing law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the developer's place of residence, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles, except where mandatory consumer protections in your country of residence provide otherwise. Nothing in these Terms limits any non-waivable statutory rights you have as a consumer.
